crimes tribunal the Hague. On occasion of the First Berlin Photography Festival we present
two artistic positions, which reflect upon the war and its consequences in a documentary
manner.
The photographies of Alen Hebilovic and the film planet Sarajevo of Sahin Sisic -each with
a completely different perspective and language- mirror the very subjective impressions of the two
artists. Some of the repressed events are thereby fetched back into our consciousness.
Lith Bahlmann
Alen Hebilovic was born in 1973 in Bosnia-Herzegovina and came to Germany as a war refugee
in 1993. Between 1996 and 2003 he studied photography at the Hochschule für Grafik und
Buchkunst (HGB) in Leipzig. He lives and works in Berlin.
Sahin Sisic, born in 1961 in Bosnia-Herzegovina, studied between 1983 and 1988 at the Academy
for Theater, Film and TV in Zagreb, Coratia. In 1989 her received the Golden Palm at the Film
Festival in Cannes for his film Margina '88. Sisic lives in Breda, The Netherlands and
currently works on new films.
